I CAN'T BREATHE...
These were the last words that the late Black American, George Floyd, utterly out while in distress.
This cries can be heard today in our environment, just like the policeman who knelt on George's neck, we also have suffocated our ecosystem.
Going around various places, we can see how we have littered the earth, we throw our wastes into the gutters blocking the drainage system, and when the rain pours out, it can't pass freely, this leads to flood, and the earth cries out : "Please help me, I can't breathe".
The air has been polluted by our constant burning of fuels, ranging from industries, from our homes, our cars, generators, and our atmosphere cries out " momma help me,I can't breathe".
The fishes in the rivers are not left out, ranging from damaged pipelines, to dangerous chemicals used for fishing, the wastes we throw in there and our constant abuse of the waterways. We can hear the aquatic animals cry out "Help us, we can't breathe".
They are crying silently to us, and it is a wake up call for us to do something about it.
Do you throw away sachet water carelessly after drinking, do you litter the environment with nylon and plastics?
What about how we leave the light bulbs on during the day when it not necessary for use?
Did you see how we recklessly allow the smoke to pollute the air from our generators and cars when they are better ways of doing do?
It is time for us to rethink, we need to ask ourselves what we can do to preserve mother earth.
We can start by planting trees, avoid unnecessary nylon and packages while you go to purchase something, educate people on the need for a green and clean environment.
I am happy of innovations going on, people using wastes to make beautiful arts, recycling waste into energy, making eco-friendly products and the likes.
We have to contribute ours to make the earth better for you and me.
So that we can all say at the end :" I CAN BREATHE NOW".
Happy new week.
