THE PHARMACIST...A GIFT TO HUMANITY

In respect to the health of the populace, the pharmacist plays a vital role in making sure that patients health is given utmost attention.

Due to the present economic situation, people assume that spending money on drugs is a waste of resources.  Some will  say in igbo“ife siri ike"-meaning things are hard ;when the patient’s condition is worsening or deteriorating, they rush to the patent medicine store and ask for drugs to be mixed, with the hope of getting a quick relief and cutting cost.

Imagine taking 4 different pain relievers for a waist pain,you might say:”It works for me and it is very cheap”.


But do you know you have just one liver?
The result of the health complications might be too expensive. So why risk your life because you feel you are cutting cost…

The pharmacist is a health professional that is easily accessible, He understands drugs so well, so feel free to walk into any pharmacy and request to see the pharmacist. A simple health tip can go a long way as the saying goes “knowledge is power”. Pharmacist are guided by ethics, hence information revealed are safe.
Referral is done when the aid of a specialist is needed.

He puts you as his focal point of interest, truly the pharmacist is a gift to humanity from God, he cares for your health by helping to prevent prescription errors, dosage errors and also dispense adequate and accurate drugs for specific disease condition in order to receive the desired outcome and prevent complications.

So please, value your pharmacist.
Don’t abuse drugs…
Take them responsibly… Your health is our concern
And remember “Health is Wealth”

PHARMACIST'S OATH: MY REFLECTIONS.

How time flies, the good news is that you are the pilot. I wrote this three years ago on my Facebook page and decided to post it on my blog. "I picked out my Pharmacist's oath to ponder on its contents, just like the 10 commandments, there was 10 "I shall" in the oath." The second 'I shall' is very delicate and demanding and it quotes: "I shall apply the full measure of my knowledge,  skills and abilities to improving the health and well being of all those I serve and place their needs above my personal interest and considerations" You may understand better if you do night calls,  after  and vigorous day duty and your body calls  for rest, when the patient comes knocking your sleep should give way for immediate attention to the patient. Today,3rd November, 2017 will be one year since I took the oath before many witnesses  and I thank God for the journey so far... I went to the Chapel to take it before God of whom I rely to fulfill the oath ...

MY DECISIONS

Sometime last year, I paid a visit to an elderly man whose son came to the pharmacy to get him some medications. I could understand what this man would be passing through, so I decided to go see him. When I arrived at the place he directed me to, I gave him a call in order to confirm the house. When I got in, I saw the man sitting; saliva was drooling from his mouth, he also urinated there and the son went ahead to clean it up. I asked to see his medications and the bag of drugs was brought. I found out he had not been taking his medications and had also resorted to herbal drinks which were bought at exorbitant prices by the woman he lived with. You will get to understand later.🙂 Among those of his children present, none was medically inclined. The good thing was that the daughter was an undergraduate student of Food and Nutrition, so we flowed together in the dietary management of her dad; of which he was doing excellently well.
