THE GREATEST ASSET : TIME
It will be true to say that everyone has 24 hours a day:
whether you are a man or woman ; undergraduate or graduate; rich or poor; one of
the popular sayings is ‘TIME is MONEY’; though the issue of the ways student
spend their time especially in the 21st century is very pathetic. Back in the days of our fore
fathers, they never imagine what a phone is like; nowadays the issue of social
media has possibly caused more harm than good to our undergraduates; one of the
silent time killers was 2go. To worsen it all, 2go set up stages whereby a
student who is in the stage called Novice will love to progress till he becomes
an Ultimate (black star), you can imagine a student who has ten (10) courses in
a semester and can’t spend up to 30 minutes
in one topic of the course outline. Who
is deceiving who? Time wasters are like Corona virus disease which must be prevented.
Imagine a student chatting for six hours and yet still not
tired; he/she only logs out when the battery is low, not to mention of:
Facebook; WhatsApp; Twitter , Tik Tok etc. In the past, the craze to get a
Black Berry or chat with BBM was nothing to write home about, such a student
may even find it difficult to buy a text book of N1000. It is not funny. Let us
not allow the time killers distract us from achieving our goals. I am not
condemning them; what I want us, especially the students to realize the
importance of effective time management. Let us be time conscious; planning our
time will make us a great success in our different field of studies.
The popular biblical saying gives us an antidote: ‘So if
your hand makes you lose your faith, cut it off! It is better for you to enter
life without a hand than to keep both hands and go off to hell, the fire that
never goes out’ cf. Mk 9:43
If 2go will make you not to make an A in that course, you can forgo it for that period to achieve your goal, you can as well use a phone will less features to prevent distractions. You know better what takes your time away, discover them and work on yourself. Channel your energy into more productive platforms and activities, build good relationships with people that can make your life better. Students have a fixed duration for schooling, maximize your potentials and reap the good fruits.
Try to discover your body chemistry
of reading, remember success begins with effective time planning, order your
priorities right. TIME can be seen as Treating
Important Matters Effectively. Keep
reading your books and develop useful skills when you are not in session.

See you at the top. God help us!
