CORRUPDEMIC

I was listening to a TV  show, Lux Terra Foundation, hosted by Fr George Ehusani and the guest, Prof Jegede transformed the word CORRUPTION to CORRUPDEMIC.

Just like the corona virus pandemic that has brought economic downturn to every continent, corruption has ravaged our country, Nigeria.

Something has to be done quickly to halt this menace, it is true that every country has its own form of corruption, however in Nigeria it is fast becoming a National anthem.

How we reconcile that the commission,EFCC that was set up to fight corruption in Nigeria has a corrupt leader, recently the Attorney General of the Federation was also accused of corruption.

It is pitiable and disheartening that corruption is fast becoming a norm in our society, and we need to address this issue for the well-being of our future generations.

We need to get up and stop being fooled by our leaders, we have to hold them accountable to implement their duties.

We can't fold our hands and watch, while the  fate our Nation is our stake.

You may think that it is not your business, but have considered the fact that Nigeria is blacklisted by other Nations for its notoriety in corruption, which affects one travelling out or getting a job in diaspora.

The youths should become politically aware and declined being used as thugs to perpetuate violence in elections while the children of the acclaimed politicians are outside the country in good schools.

It is quite unfortunate we have many churches and mosques in our country, yet we commit the heinous crimes.

It is time for us to forsake our evil ways and call on God to heal our land.

It may surprise you that you may be corrupt leader, that is you are asymptomatic to the corruption virus, but when you find yourself in the corridors of power, you may perform worse.

We need to start from ourselves, our homes, our schools ,our churches to eschew all forms of corruption.

We have to orientate our children on the dangers of corruption and give them proper training to understand the good ideals of leadership.

It is time we stop celebrating the wrong people, we have to shame anyone who has committed a corrupt act and not honor them, as it is scandalous.

The various institutions in our country need to be structured to provide zero tolerance to corruption and prosecute anyone who has done any heinous crime not considering the economic class or political affiliation.

It is time for a change, and we need to be ruthless to this monster called corruption.

Yes, all hope is not lost, let us join hands to make it happen, and surely, we will win.

Cheers!
