Image
Living in Akwa Ibom has been a wonderful, one thing that stands out in this land is it peaceful nature. Akwa Ibom is a land of promise, and I am happy to associate with it, even though I am was not born in this land, it has nurtured me. My parents are from the East, from Anambra precisely,of which I am happy to associate with, my dad also maigrated to the North and started business there, of which my mum joined him, due to insecurity crises they left and settled in Akwa Ibom, particularly in Eket, popularly known as the oil city. I attended both primary and secondary school in Akwa Ibom, before going to the East for my University education. I can say with confidence that Akwa Ibom has a bright future, and with the mantra of "Akwa Ibom Dakadda", it is a clarion call for all to arise to greatness. Celebration of 33years is no small feat, Akwa Ibom has birthed lot of bright stars and heroes, there are wonderful infrastructures built in the state. Akwa Ibom may soon become the l...

NEW NORMAL

Traveling recently to the capital of the state where I domicile in made me appreciate the comfort covid-19 has brought about in public transportation. Previously, we traveled with two passengers at the front seat, which is meant for one person only, then 4 passengers at the back seat. This arrangement was highly uncomfortable as passengers struggle during the journey. Today the pandemic has created room for decorum, although the transportation fare is doubled the previous price which will be very difficult for people who shuttle within that axis most times. There will be need to balance such events by moderation of the prices, which I believe will be effective if the government can look into the current price of PMS and ensure some policies that will be helpful to the common man. There is now a lot of online meetings and conferences going on, innovations in logistics and deliveries have sporadically increased. However, the online meetings and conferences is a great development, im...

MARY... Mother of Jesus

Image
On the 8th of September, we celebrated the birthday of Mary. I was fortunate enough to be on break from work, after 2 weeks quarantine and 4 weeks as the pharmacist on duty, joy overwhelmed my heart at the celebration of the Mass of Our Lady's birthday. The priest sang Marian songs and we danced and danced joyfully. One may ask why is Mary so celebrated widely in the church, without prejudice to the Church's teaching, the scripture spells it all clearly: "All generations shall call me blessed." Mary has no book in the Bible attributed to her, the volume of speech recorded in the Bible about her is so minute, but how come she is celebrated? Well, she is favoured by God! That is enough to clear your doubt. Mary demonstrated great love for the couple at the wedding at Cana where beckoned on her son to do something about the wine, she understood the shame it will bring to the young couple, there she was at the background doing a great work of providing wine and happiness ...

RESPONSIBILITY

Image
Responsibility is simply the "ability to respond". When you can respond effectively to what matters, it shows your level of maturity. We live in a world where everyone seems not to care about anything aside his own welfare, this epidemic is aptly described by Pope Francis as the "globalization of indifference".  Really, we have no excuses to make, as Howard Wright rightly puts it, "Excuses are lies wrapped up in reasons". It is time we see others people welfare as our responsibility, a simple smile to someone, listening attentively to their concerns can really make a lot of difference in their mental health. Don't be hardened hearted that nothing moves you, we can be like Cain and pretend we don't where our brother(s) are when we are asked,we have to intentional about showing love to others. The climate is changing, the environment is degrading, our atmosphere is getting polluted, our leaders are swindling our economy, and so on, should we sit in ...
