TRIBUTE TO ALL TEACHERS

Image
Sometime ago I was listening to a radio talk, and the topic of discussion was: "Between a teacher and a doctor, who is more important", this kind of discussion comes with a lot of opinions, one might say, a teacher is vital in the development of child’s education who will not be a doctor if he/she is not taught to learn how to read and write. The point still remains, both professions are vital in any human society, however I choose to pay tribute to all teachers, most especially my mother who has been a teacher all through her career, starting from the home she taught to be good children and also assisted us in our studies, I remember those knocks she gave me on my head each time I failed to provide the right answers, it made me more serious with my studies. She also made me and my siblings attend home lessons and extra-mural classes, and that foundation really helped me pass through schooling successfully. Teaching is a noble profession indeed, and without their servic...

MAN IS MAN

Image
Have someone made a promise to you which they failed to keep and you were saddened by it? Or have you placed your hope on someone to help you only for you to realize that such a person is even planning for your downfall. There are numerous stories to reference to point out the fragility of man. The essence of this post is to make you to ignore peoples’ weakness, knowing well that man has a limited knowledge of himself and also is subject to changes, and the popular saying: ‘Man is bundle of possibilities’ The saint of today may become a great sinner tomorrow while a sinner may become a saint tomorrow, and that is why it is dangerous to pass judgment on someone, many people you see doing things that are abnormal may be under compulsion to do so, they may even be looking for an opportunity to break that act. So to safe yourself from mental fatigue and emotional distress you have to keep in mind that man will always be man. In the business circle we make transactions and fix date to...

THE STATE OF THE NATION

Image
Due to my interests in the events that transpired in the history of Nigeria, I read the book: ‘There was a country by Chinua Achebe. May His gentle soul rest in peace. Amen. It gave insights on the affairs of the country;   how the British colonials ruled us and the civil war that happen which made things never the same again, our country has been a cause of concern to both the citizens and international communities. How do we explain that a country rich in mineral resources, a good weather and wonderful soil for agriculture has its citizens as one of the poorest in the world? This has created a huge gap between the rich and poor; creating such dichotomy is not safe, since it turns the unfortunate ones into monsters which in turn will affect the so-called rich ones. How do we tell our children that a country which has enough food to feed its citizens has many languishing in hunger and malnutrition? What is the best way to explain that a country has lawmakers that ea...

NEW NORMAL

Image
Traveling recently to the capital of the state where I domicile in made me appreciate the comfort covid-19 has brought about in public transportation. Previously, we traveled with two passengers at the front seat, which is meant for one person only, then 4 passengers at the back seat. This arrangement was highly uncomfortable as passengers struggle during the journey. Today the pandemic has created room for decorum, although the transportation fare is doubled the previous price which will be very difficult for people who shuttle within that axis most times. There will be need to balance such events by moderation of the prices, which I believe will be effective if the government can look into the current price of PMS and ensure some policies that will be helpful to the common man. There is now a lot of online meetings and conferences going on, innovations in logistics and deliveries have sporadically increased. However, the online meetings and conferences is a great development, im...

MARY... Mother of Jesus

Image
On the 8th of September, we celebrated the birthday of Mary. I was fortunate enough to be on break from work, after 2 weeks quarantine and 4 weeks as the pharmacist on duty, joy overwhelmed my heart at the celebration of the Mass of Our Lady's birthday. The priest sang Marian songs and we danced and danced joyfully. One may ask why is Mary so celebrated widely in the church, without prejudice to the Church's teaching, the scripture spells it all clearly: "All generations shall call me blessed." Mary has no book in the Bible attributed to her, the volume of speech recorded in the Bible about her is so minute, but how come she is celebrated? Well, she is favoured by God! That is enough to clear your doubt. Mary demonstrated great love for the couple at the wedding at Cana where beckoned on her son to do something about the wine, she understood the shame it will bring to the young couple, there she was at the background doing a great work of providing wine and happiness ...

RESPONSIBILITY

Image
Responsibility is simply the "ability to respond". When you can respond effectively to what matters, it shows your level of maturity. We live in a world where everyone seems not to care about anything aside his own welfare, this epidemic is aptly described by Pope Francis as the "globalization of indifference".  Really, we have no excuses to make, as Howard Wright rightly puts it, "Excuses are lies wrapped up in reasons". It is time we see others people welfare as our responsibility, a simple smile to someone, listening attentively to their concerns can really make a lot of difference in their mental health. Don't be hardened hearted that nothing moves you, we can be like Cain and pretend we don't where our brother(s) are when we are asked,we have to intentional about showing love to others. The climate is changing, the environment is degrading, our atmosphere is getting polluted, our leaders are swindling our economy, and so on, should we sit in ...
