The various woes we experience in our society today is based on leaders who lead with no conscience or better put the heart for humanity. Changing the narrative of a failing country is not rocket science as many have painted it to be. Most good intentions can be forestalled by the so called "way of doing things". Sometime last year, I paid a visit to an elderly man whose son came to the pharmacy to get him some medications. I could understand what this man would be passing through, so I decided to go see him. When I arrived at the place he directed me to, I gave him a call in order to confirm the house. When I got in, I saw the man sitting; saliva was drooling from his mouth, he also urinated there and the son went ahead to clean it up. I asked to see his medications and the bag of drugs was brought. I found out he had not been taking his medications and had also resorted to herbal drinks which were bought at exorbitant prices by the woman he lived with. The good thing was that the daughter was an undergraduate student of Food and Nutrition, so we flowed together in the dietary management of her dad; of which he was doing excellently well.   I see a leader as someone with foresight and who is ready to sacrifice his time, skills and resources in achieving a goal while collaborating with others. Sometime ago I was listening to a radio talk, and the topic of discussion was: "Between a teacher and a doctor, who is more important", this kind of discussion comes with a lot of opinions, one might say, a teacher is vital in the development of child’s education who will not be a doctor if he/she is not taught to learn how to read and write. The point still remains, both professions are vital in any human society, however I choose to pay tribute to all teachers, most especially my mother who has been a teacher all through her career, starting from the home she taught to be good children and also assisted us in our studies, I remember those knocks she gave me on my head each time I failed to provide the right answers, it made me more serious with my studies.  Living in Akwa Ibom has been a wonderful, one thing that stands out in this land is it peaceful nature. Akwa Ibom is a land of promise, and I am happy to associate with it, even though I am was not born in this land, it has nurtured me.  Traveling recently to the capital of the state where I domicile in made me appreciate the comfort covid-19 has brought about in public transportation. Previously, we traveled with two passengers at the front seat, which is meant for one person only, then 4 passengers at the back seat. This arrangement was highly uncomfortable as passengers struggle during the journey. Today the pandemic has created room for decorum, although the transportation fare is doubled the previous price which will be very difficult for people who shuttle within that axis most times. There will be need to balance such events by moderation of the prices, which I believe will be effective if the government can look into the current price of PMS and ensure some policies that will be helpful to the common man.
